April turned out to be a bit of a roller coaster month.  I felt like one thing was following another without much breathing room.  While I understand the astrological energetic exchanges that the planets bring us, it still often catches me by surprise.  Knowing what is coming up does not always equate to living through it. 😊

As I am writing this blog, I am somewhat relieved that today is the day when Jupiter stationed to go direct, April 25th.  It will take Jupiter a few more days to reach its pre-retrograde position and the full speed; however, forward movement is most welcome at this time.  I know that travel is not advisable during Mercury retrograde, contracts should not be signed, and correspondence should be double checked.  However, life goes on, whether there is a planet in retrograde or not.  My family had to go out of town to attend a sports-related tournament for our kids.  In the beginning of the month, as Mercury went retrograde, I had this nagging feeling that something was off about our reservations.  I called the hotel and, sure enough, our reservation could not be found and had to be re-booked, twice.  In addition, there were delays when our team would have their first game.  So, I had to change the rental car pick up date and boarding for our pets a few times.  There were also some issues with malfunctioning home electronics and unanswered or missed emails.  All in all, typical Mercury retrograde stuff.  However, what I noticed is that when I gave myself a bit of a room to breathe and accept that life happens, it gave me the necessary patience to deal with the unexpected things the universe threw my way in April.

Looking at the month of May, there are a couple of notable events that are taking place and worth mentioning.  The first event is that Jupiter, planet of luck and expansion, is shifting from the sign of Taurus into Gemini on May 26th for the next year or so.  Jupiter takes about 12 years to circle the entire zodiac and spends about a year in each sign.  Signs and houses that Jupiter visits get a good doze of expansion, optimism, and luck.  We also tend to resolve issues of the house during Jupiterian transits, almost as by divine intervention.  We may encounter helpful people or information that allows us to find a solution that we need. However, there is such a thing as too much of a good stuff.  Some draw backs of Jupiter transiting a house is that we tend to overdo things (overwork, overeat, gamble too much).  More specifically, if Jupiter is transiting your house of daily work, you may end up on a project that you really wanted; however, you end up working too many hours and juggle too many responsibilities to get it done.  On the other hand, if Jupiter is transiting your 10th house of career, you may get a job that you really wanted and that seems to be almost like a lucky break.   What I noticed over the years is that once Jupiter provides me with its gifts for each area of my life that it transits, I sort through these gifts after the transit is over to see what is feasible for me to keep and what is authentic to who I am. Less is more sometimes.

The second event of May is Venus entering Taurus on May 1 to stay there until May 23rd.  It will move into Gemini on May 24th.  Venus rules Taurus and is rather strong in its home sign.  It has more vitality and potency to deal with topics of the house it transits where we have Taurus or Libra.  Venus is a planet of love, harmony, art, creativity, aesthetics, finances, friendships, and social connections. When it transits the house, it creates harmony and allows situations arising withing the house to be smoothed over through creative approach and harmonious relationships.  Venus also makes us look at our values in each house to determine what is important to us.  These do not have to be financial in nature, though Venus could bring into your life some financial benefits as well or some type of assistance from your friends.

So, where do you have Taurus and Gemini in your chart? This area of your life will benefit the most from Jupiter and Venus visits.  Here is a brief reminder of the houses:  1st (Ascendant, self, appearance, vitality), 2nd (earned income), 3rd (siblings, neighbors, short distance travel, communication), 4th (parents and ancestors, real estate), 5th (children, creativity, fun activities, dating, sports), 6th (health, daily chores, pets, work, subordinates), 7th (spouse, committed relationships, contracts), 8th (investments, shared income, taxes), 9th (long distance travel, higher education, law), 10th (career), 11th (organizations and friends), 12th (house of seclusion, hospitals, working behind the closed door).

May 2024 Transits

May seems to be another busy month, speaking astrologically.  Transits described below may feel more impactful if you have personal planets (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars) at the listed degrees (plus or minus a couple of degrees) in your natal chart.  You can obtain a free copy of your natal chart from astro-seek.com.

May 1-2:   Venus squares Pluto (2 degrees Taurus and Aquarius) – These couple of days could bring up some intense emotional experiences within your existing relationships.  Pluto is a planet of lasting beneficial transformations but requires some psychological work from us up front.  Your task from Pluto will be to find security within yourself rather than in another person.  Some relationships should undergo transformation to grow and become healthier.

May 3-5: Mars sextiles Pluto (2 degrees Aries and Aquarius) – These could be good days to make move towards important goals in your life. Your original approach and plans may undergo some transformation, for the best.  While you may experience some challenges, at the end of the day you will accomplish something permanent and worthwhile. Make sure though that you have a deep understanding of yourself and what you really want to build.

May 7-8: Sun sextiles Saturn (17 degrees Taurus and Pisces) – Good transit to get things done as Saturn rules organization and combined with Sun, you will have stamina to complete a variety of mundane things.  Also, go ahead and create some practical plans for your future projects.

May 12-13: Sun conjuncts Uranus (22 degrees Taurus) – You may act out of character for these couple of days as you are more in tune with yourself than what is expected of you. You may feel like breaking free from the routines and obligations. If you like your routine, this transit may prove to be a little frustrating as Uranus asks us to simply go with a flow.

May 17-19: Sun conjuncts Jupiter (27 degrees Taurus) – These couple of days you simply may feel good psychologically and physically.  You may have a strong desire to experience as much of life as possible.  This is also a great day to study something that you thought in the past is beyond your understanding.  Your mind will be more open to various possibilities.  Try not to overdo things.  Overall, it is a good and optimistic transit.

May 17-18: Mercury squares Pluto (2 degrees Taurus and Aquarius) – Try keep an open mind for these couple of days and not get obsessed with an idea or a thought.  Also, do not force your point of view on others as it may not be well received and cause you some frustration. This is a great transit for introspective thinking and psychological insights into yourself. Use this transit wisely to study things like psychology or yoga.  Or, just read a great detective novel to make Pluto happy.

May 18-19: Venus conjuncts Uranus (23 degrees Taurus) – These could be a couple of days of unexpected events.  New experiences may come up through love and creativity.  You may also feel that your current relationships need some excitement. This transit could also manifest through some sudden financial gains, especially if you have Taurus or Libra in your 2nd house or 8th house.

May 19-28:  Jupiter sextiles Neptune (29 degrees Taurus and Pisces) – These few days you may be concerned with fulfilling ideals in your life.  During this transit you may also have an urge to help others who are less fortunate.  This is a good transit to gain some spiritual insights and spend time in a group of likeminded people.   This is not the best time to make decisions about financial investments or gambling. Neptune tends to dissolve our reasoning.

May 22-23: Venus conjuncts Jupiter (29 degrees Taurus) – These will be uplifting couple of days.   This transit is good for all types of relationships – professional, personal, and social.  You would feel more optimistic than usual and friendly towards others.   This transit could also bring you a sudden windfall (lottery ticket, anyone?).  You may meet some beneficial and helpful people or new friends during this transit.

May 23: Venus sextiles Neptune (29 degrees Taurus and Pisces) – This could be a day full of imagination and great for artistic pursuits (music, art, poetry).  Both Venus and Neptune rule creativity.  Also, enjoy social interactions, some great music, art, poetry, and delicious food. This transit could make you feel more sensitive to the needs of others, especially your loved ones’.

May 25-26: Venus trines Pluto (2 degrees Gemini and Aquarius) – During these couple of days you may perceive your relationships as more intense.  You may also begin to see your relationships from another perspective, which could be for the best.  New relationships starting under this transit are likely to be intense but rather good in the long run.  If you are a poet, musician or an artist, your work under this transit could demonstrate some emotional depth and be rather good.

May 28: Mercury sextiles Saturn (18 degrees Taurus and Pisces) – This is a good transit to get mundane work done, chores cleared from to do lists, study for an exam or accomplish anything that requires precision.    Also, time to look around yourself with a critical eye to see what needs to be changed in your environment.  This is not the most optimistic transit but great for tasks requiring concentration and thinking.

May 31 – June 6: Jupiter trines Pluto (2 degrees Gemini and Aquarius) –For these few days you may have a strong desire to improve your life and conditions around you.  This is a transformative transit.  Pluto’s ability to see deeply what is hidden and powers of transformation work well with Jupiterian optimism, expansion and ability to see the big picture.  This transit could also coincide with some professional success, coming to your own power (even in case of small mundane everyday issues) or potentially coming into some money, depending on where you have Gemini and Aquarius in your chart.

May 31: Mercury conjuncts Uranus (24 degrees Taurus)- This could be a very exciting transit enabling you to think outside of the box.  You may also encounter unexpected, interesting, and stimulating situations.  This could be good time to experiment with new ideas and update approaches to old routines.  You may feel a little on the edge today as Uranus rules our nervous system.  Use this super-charge to generate a list of ideas in your journal.
